We believe in transparent, fair pricing and want to make quality speech therapy accessible for every family. Here's everything you need to know about our fees, funding options, and policies.
How Our Fees Work
At First Words Speech, we keep our pricing straightforward so you know exactly what to expect. All services are charged in line with current NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits.
Speech Therapy Sessions
Session length is tailored to each child's needs, preferences, and funding. We'll work together to find the best fit.
Reports
Progress and assessment reports typically require a minimum of 2 hours ($387.98) to complete.
Travel
Travel fees are additional to session costs and billed one-way only.
Non Face-to-Face
Covers phone calls, emails, meetings, and resource development. Charged per minute.
Funding Options We Support
We accept a range of funding options to help make therapy accessible. If you're unsure about your eligibility or funding pathway, we're happy to guide you through it.
NDIS
We accept Self-Managed and Plan-Managed NDIS participants. Speech therapy can be funded under your Core or Capacity Building budget.
Medicare
Eligible children can access Medicare rebates through a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP) referral from your GP — up to 5 allied health sessions per calendar year.
Private Health Insurance
Many private health funds include speech pathology under their Extras cover. Check with your provider for your annual limit and rebate amount.
Self-Funded
We welcome private-paying clients. Full payment is due at the time of service. We're happy to provide receipts for tax or insurance claims.
Cancellation Policy
We understand that life can be unpredictable — sickness, emergencies, and last-minute changes happen. However, to offer you and all our clients the highest quality service, we have a cancellation policy in place that protects the time and care that goes into each session.
More Than 48 Hours Notice
Cancellations made with more than 48 hours (2 full business days) notice incur no fee.
Less Than 48 Hours or No-Show
Cancellations within 48 hours of your appointment, or non-attendance without notice, will be charged at the full session fee.
Why Late Cancellations Matter
Every appointment involves more than just the time we spend together. Behind the scenes, we dedicate significant effort to preparing tailored sessions that meet your child's specific goals — reviewing progress, planning resources, and ensuring therapy is targeted and effective.
When a session is cancelled late or missed, it means we often can't offer that spot to another family in need. We approach every situation with compassion and fairness, so please reach out if you're facing exceptional circumstances.
